In recent years, digital electronics has transformed techniques for farming in many ways. Now with the most recent advances it is possible to dramatically transform the physical nature of water chemistry. This transformation works to make profound changes in both water an in turn improve the biological chemistry of animals. The Soo-Soft® digital water softening system implements a cascading group of benefits for animal life. These benefits have been shown to translate directly into economic benefits. They can increase the bottom line for the farmer, rancher, dairies, and operators of feedlots.

New Technology

Until recently, water treatment by electronic or magnetic method has been inconsistent. Magnets remain marginally effective, because a flow rate of 2.3 (7.4 ft.) meters per second is required for optimal results. If water flows at any other rate (faster or slower) the effects are significantly reduced. Previously, results from units creating magnetic fields electronically have also proven unreliable. The problems have typically been low output power and/or limited frequency range.

Today, by using Soo-Soft® digital technology, you can reliably soften water without salt or chemicals. With an output of 6000 milliamps it is reliable in all water conditions and at all flow rates. Instead of removing calcium from the water, it is converted into a soft form called calcium aragonite. This form has a particle size that is microscopic. It has the constancy of fine talcum powder. Water treated this way is a much better solvent. This treatment also changes the electrical charge of the water, preventing the particles from sticking together and forming lime scale on surfaces.

Solvency

Water is the universal solvent for all animals. It is the medium used for waste disposal. Water removes the toxic waste products produced by countless cellular functions. Water fills the capillaries, which act to remove impurities. It follows that the effectiveness of water as a solvent will directly influence the health of the animal by reducing naturally occurring toxic influences.

The Soo-Soft® system reduces the surface tension of the water. This is a natural result of reducing the minerals in water to a 4-micron size. Water becomes "wetter" and a better solvent for removal of toxins. Its ability to dissolve and carry away the waste products of living organisms is dramatically improved.

In addition the reduced surface tension of the water facilitates the cells take up of water. Water with a reduced surface tension can penetrate the cell wall easier, facilitating the growth and division of cells.

Nutrients

Water is the primary carrier for nutrients delivered to the cells. The ability of water to dissolve these nutrients and deliver them to the cells is influenced by the wetness and solubility of the water the animal drinks.

One of the most important nutrients is calcium. It is one of the primary constituents of the cell wall. It has been shown to tighten and strengthen cellular membranes. Low levels of calcium create weak cell walls and increase the ability of the cell wall to be easily penetrated. This increases the animal’s susceptibility to invasion by bacteria and toxic elements.

Bacterial Resistance

Outside of the body, bacteria in physically treated water starve. Algae and bacteria must obtain nourishment through their cell walls. Water can easily penetrate, but cells are prevented from absorbing mineral nourishment. The altered form of crystallized mineral shapes created by the Soo-Soft™ system cannot easily penetrate cell walls.

Water Taste

Animals are like humans when it comes to the taste of hard water. Hard water is not palatable. This is especially true of water derived from wells. Water treated by the Soo-Soft® system has its mineral content reduced to the consistency of talcum powder. This greatly reduces the irritation factor in hard well water. Our customers have continually reported an increase in water consumption and a preference by animals for Soo-Soft® treated water. Animals are more likely to consume more water and have improved health from that fact alone.

History

Dr. Klaus Kronenberg of California Polytechnic University in Pomona, California and Dr. Israel Lin of Haifa university in Israel have reported increased weight gain in piglets increased milk production in dairy cows, an increase muscle to fat ratio, and a general increase in health in animals fed treated water.

Dr. Linus Pauling received the Nobel Prize for discovering the magnetic properties of blood. Blood contains iron that acts as a carrier of oxygen. (Ferrous hemoglobin) It has been reported that physically treated water acts as a better carrier for transportation of oxygen through the lungs and cells.

All of these studies point to a continuing positive relationship between animal health and magnetic effects on water and biological chemistry.

System Maintenance

Calcium, in its natural carbonate (hard) form, is abrasive. It collects inside water and milk pumps, causing premature failure. Electric solenoid valves also collect hard calcium deposits, causing them to seize.

Calcium deposits are also a major factor in corrosion. The corrosive contaminates become trapped by calcium deposits, allowing them to corrode pipes, tanks, valves and water jackets. This corrosion reduces the life expectancy of all components using water.

Water filters of all types collect calcium deposits on their surfaces, clogging the filter before its time. This forces filter replacement long before the filter itself is fully utilized. The Soo-Soft® system creates 4 micron sized particles of calcium that simply pass through. This greatly extends the life of filters.

Hard calcium deposits are the bane of any water feeding system. The Soo-Soft® system creates a more soluble water that dissolves existing calcium deposits. This occurs throughout the water system. Pipes, pumps, valves and filters are all cleared of hard deposits. This creates significant maintenance savings on large systems.

Milking

Calcium assimilation is an integral part of milk production. In its hard carbonate form it can interfere with the milking process, making the animal more difficult to milk and in some cases creating irritation for the animal. The Soo-Soft™ system will break down this hard calcium and make milking easier.

In addition a greater biological availability for the calcium is created from the small particle size. Numerous studies and field reports have shown a significant increase in the daily output of milk for animals using magnetically treated water.

Effectiveness

Commercial Soo-Soft® systems can soften 150 gallons per minute through a 2-inch copper pipe or 300 gallons per minute through a 3-inch plastic pipe. At all flow rates they are highly effective in breaking down the hardest water into a form that is soft and silky-smooth. As they use no salt or chemicals, they are completely environmentally friendly. The greatest benefit comes from the increase in healthy growth, weight gain, and bacterial resistance imparted to the animals. In saving money through more effective water and feed usage, as well as reduced system maintenance, they pay for themselves instantly.
